By introducing an integrated management system, we firmly anchor our SHREQ obligations (safety, health, regulatory, environment, quality) in all processes. In this way, we promote improvements and always stay in line with the expectations of our stakeholders. The management keeps an eye on all processes, gives the direction and creates the framework for our locations to flexibly adapt their measures to local specifications. SHREQ is firmly integrated into all product- and process-specific processes - across locations and in a practical way.

Product Safety

We meet the highest safety standards by consistently implementing process and plant safety measures and strictly monitoring their effectiveness. Health and occupational safety risks are continuously assessed to proactively minimize hazards – especially at interfaces where people and technology meet.

Our incident rate (LTIR) serves as a central benchmark: Annual targets promote continuous improvement, while technical managers are responsible for safety checks for all plant changes.

In the event of disruptions or accidents, we react immediately to protect people and the environment - supported by robust emergency management and regular exercises. Product safety is also our top priority: We support customers and partners with comprehensive information on potential risks and precautions so that our products can be used responsibly and sustainably.

We ensure maximum possible safety in the operation of our plant, OQEMA ltd has a number of CoMAH sites (Seveso) across the UK with use of uniform standards in process and system safety that are regularly checked with regards to compliance and effectiveness with the relevant Competent authorities.

Occupational health and safety is an integral part of our daily activities - at all locations and in accordance with all safety, health, and environmental standards. We strengthen our employees through targeted training and promote a corporate culture in which health and safety are a matter of course. All measures of Occupational Health Management (OHM) are made available transparently on the intranet and are accessible at any time.

A health-conscious work environment increases performance, satisfaction and well-being - while helping to reduce absenteeism and costs. Our holistic approach ranges from health promotion at the workplace to company integration management to protection against physical and psychological risks. We encourage our employees to take responsibility for their own health and fitness - supported by a variety of programs and practical initiatives.

Regulatory Affairs

Our Regulatory Affairs team ensures that all chemical requirements are complied with - to protect people and the environment. Because what we do today determines our future. An interdisciplinary team provide comprehensive advice on REACH, CLP, safety data sheets, biocides, dangerous goods, certifications and supplier qualifications.

We make complex regulatory requirements understandable – whether REACH registrations, the use of biocides or the design of safety data sheets. Are you unsure about classifications, legal requirements or product safety? We are at your side with words and deeds.

Environment

We make every effort to reduce climate-damaging emissions as much as possible – with continuous improvements to our environmental performance along the entire value chain, this is evidenced by our long standing ISO 14001:2015 certification. These include the optimized use of raw materials and energy as well as more efficient plant processes, more environmentally friendly transport and sustainable recycling or disposal of our products. When selecting suppliers and partners, we make sure that they share our corporate principles.

Our actions are based on the guidelines of the chemical trade for the safe handling of chemicals and are further strengthened by our active participation in the global responsible care initiative. These commitments form the foundation of our ongoing commitment to safety, health and environmental protection – regularly reviewed by independent auditors.

At OQEMA, quality is at the heart of our actions – it shapes our processes, products and services and are oriented to the highest standards. The OQEMA Code of Conduct sets the direction: We consider the interests of all stakeholders and maintain customer relationships at eye level - forward-looking, flexible and partnership.

Our operations are aligned with industry-specific standards to strengthen our network and expand certifications where they provide real value. The basis of our quality management is ISO 9001:2015 in combination with the VCH guidelines.
