Start the infection:
The Aquilaria tree is infected with a specific type of fungus. The tree enters de- fence mode changing the odour, colour and com- position of the tree, producing the oily dark resin.
Sorting Agarwood chips:
An artisan sorts the unprocessed distillery chips removing the unusable wood and leaving only the resinous agarwood for the distillation process for Oudh.
Processing Oudh chips:
The agarwood chips will then soak until ready for distillation. With over 150 compounds each creating a distinct smell, the artisan is tasked with seperating different pieces of wood resulting in a variety of essences of the pure Oudh oil.
The distillation process:
The chips are then trans ferred to the distillery where they undergo distillation. This also effects the distinct final scent.
Sunshine:
Once the Oudh oil has been distilled it is kept in open sunlight to allow any excess moisture to evaporate ensuring the purity of oil.
