LG Chem’s SBS is a thermoplastic elastomer composed of styrene and butadiene blocks, designed to combine rubber-like elasticity with thermoplastic processing . As a modifier, SBS improves flexibility, crack resistance, and adhesion in roofing membranes, asphalt pavements, shoe soles, and adhesives. Because it is melt-processable, it supports recycling and rework in compounding lines. SBS also works well as a compatibiliser in polymer blends, enhancing mechanical performance and durability across plastics and composites.
