OQEMA joins the UN Global Compact: A commitment to sustainability
We’re delighted to share that OQEMA has joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)—the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. This global network unites over 20,000 businesses in 160 countries around ten principles covering human rights, labour standards, environmental responsibility, and anti-corruption. For us, this partnership is about more than just compliance; it’s a chance to embed these values into our operations, demonstrating that responsibility and innovation can go hand in hand.

What this membership means to us
Being part of the UNGC not only reaffirms our dedication to sustainable growth but also opens doors to invaluable resources. From expert-led workshops to training on ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) topics like sustainable finance, this collaboration equips us to meet critical reporting obligations under frameworks like CSRD and EcoVadis. Through our annual Communication on Progress (CoP), we’ll ensure transparency, share our achievements, and continue to embed these principles across all OQEMA entities.
As a key player in the chemical distribution industry, we recognise the responsibility we carry in driving sustainability within the supply chain. Joining the UNGC strengthens our ability to innovate, collaborate, and lead by example in a challenging yet rewarding journey toward a more sustainable future. It’s one small step for OQEMA, but one giant leap for what’s possible when business takes action for the greater good.
